Voiceful Softphone — Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 31, 2026

1. Introduction

This privacy policy describes how the Voiceful Softphone Chrome Extension ("Extension") collects, uses, and protects your information. The Extension is developed by Voiceful and allows users to make and receive phone calls through the Voiceful business phone system directly from the Chrome browser.

2. Data We Collect

The Extension collects and processes the following data:

  • Authentication cookies: The Extension reads your existing Voiceful session cookie to authenticate you without requiring a separate login. No passwords are collected or stored by the Extension.
  • User preferences: Settings such as your selected caller ID number, auto-connect preference, and server URL are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API.
  • Call metadata: Phone numbers dialed and received are transmitted to the Voiceful server and Twilio for call routing purposes.
  • Microphone audio: The Extension accesses your microphone solely for real-time voice call audio. Audio is transmitted directly to the call recipient via Twilio's WebRTC infrastructure and is not stored by the Extension.

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To authenticate you with your Voiceful account
  • To make and receive phone calls on your behalf
  • To display incoming call notifications
  • To remember your preferences (caller ID, auto-connect setting)

4. Data Storage

All user preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API. No personal data is stored on external servers beyond what is already part of your Voiceful account. Call records are stored on Voiceful's servers as part of normal service operation.

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Twilio: Provides the voice calling infrastructure (WebRTC). Call audio is routed through Twilio's network. Twilio's privacy policy applies to their handling of call data.

6. Permissions Explained

  • offscreen: Required for WebRTC audio processing during calls
  • notifications: Desktop alerts for incoming calls
  • storage: Saving your preferences locally
  • alarms: Keeping the call connection alive
  • cookies: Reading your Voiceful session for authentication
  • scripting: Displaying incoming call overlay on your active tab
  • activeTab: Showing call notifications on the current page

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties beyond what is necessary for the phone service to function (i.e., Twilio for call routing). No data is used for advertising or analytics purposes.

8. Data Deletion

Uninstalling the Extension removes all locally stored data. To delete your Voiceful account and associated call records, contact us at the email below.
